FREE CD. DONATE WHAT YOU WANT.
Well I am truly excited for this. After much thought I have come to a conclusion. I am going to give my CD away for free. How lucky for you! Now this is unorthodox, and I'm sure no one would look a gift horse in the mouth but I'd like to explain my reasoning. I really am a student of comedy, I watch DVDs and listen to CDs of different comedy everyday. I'm a fan. Now I wish it were so with other people, but truthfully comedy is one of the lowest in CD sales. Just above Jazz and just below NPR compilations. I see the way the industry is going, it's part of the reason I moved to LA over NY, the game is changing. People don't BUY music and comedy, hell I don't even, it would be foolish to expect people to do something I won't do. I feel the music industry has been trying to seal pandora's box after Napster and have played foolish games against their own potential customers, thus driving them further away. Now on the other end of this, comedy CDs have never been produced with as much quantity and fervor as right now. Look on iTunes and you will see new comedy CDs every week, most of them are my friends. Comedy records used to be a rarity, something made after a long established career. I have always taken a punk rock view of it, press the disc, get it out there, and keep growing as an artist. The real comedy fans will be able to enjoy early endeavors and notice the growth as I hopefully produce better and more creative material. But the only way I can achieve this is cut the tether to old, working material and move on. Hopefully with the growing of a fanbase I can count on them in audiences and take bigger leaps with material and choices. Now, I am immensely proud of the CD I have. The audio came out exceptional and the audience was receptive and fun. Believe me, I have/had the opportunity to re-record this CD with a stand up company, get the usual iTunes release and CD in very select stores. But instead I've decided to gamble on myself and you, the comedy fan.
